Background
Fourteen years ago I founded Webs That Sell, LLC, and began creating Web sites for start-ups, small businesses, and non-profits. I brought many years of business and data systems experience to a new found love for computer graphics and the Internet. I take pride in producing sites that are well organized and easy to use – emphasizing eye appeal, not eye candy.
My Thoughts on Web Development
I believe that businesses should be the masters of their Websites, not the other way around. Too often, I've heard managers say they would like to display such and such on their Website, but it's too expensive to make the change, or too complicated to make the change, or it takes too long to make the change. At that point their Website becomes a liability rather than an asset…no matter how snazzy looking it is!
Granted, today's Websites can handle an amazing level of complexity and functionality which is fantastic for businesses large enough to have in-house Web developers, programmers, network specialists, and more.
But, for the sole practitioner, small business, start-up and small non-profit, the level of back office support necessary to keep a complex Website updated and limber is not an option.
My vision for Quick Start Webs is to fill this void – a "website lite" that fulfills your business Web presence requirements but doesn't bog you down. You may not get "everything you ever dreamed of in a Website", but you can have a pretty sharp site that does the job and can be produced and subsequently updated very quickly.
The cool surprise in all of this is that clients often discover that they don't actually need all the information that appears on their current Website. When they take a hard look, they see that after a couple of years, their current site has become "granny's closet", a place to "archive" mountains of old information that isn't helping to focus their message or clarify their call to action. Re-designing with a Quick Start Web is like cleaning out the closet – keep what's essential…dump the rest.
